Patient Group Expansion

Join our patient group and help us to develop the practice with your views in mind. We are particularly looking for members at our Bransholme surgery

The NHS is about to undergo some further big changes. By joining our patient group you will be able to listen to other patients and help represent their views.

              Communications
We want to help our Patient Group achieve its objective of improving the two-way communications between themselves and the other patients registered at the practice

               Improvements
Greater involvement from patients will help to develop services and make improvements that they feel are necessary and to make choices that are right for all our patients.

Improving two-way communications is also extremely valuable in enabling all parties to understand the issues and challenges that face us.

Improvement in many areas is genuinely a two-way process and we hope that this partnership with patients will deliver significant improvements in the future.

The British Medical Association asked surgeries why they had Patient Groups. These are some of the reasons:
National Association
for
Patient Participation
The charitable objective for which the Association is established is to promote the relief of sickness and preservation and protection of health for the public benefit by fostering the highest possible standard of primary medical care through the medium of patient participation. In particular, N.A.P.P.

1. Encourages patients to take responsibility for their own health and that of their family.
2. Supports the development of forums in the community for patients, carers and health service staff that have benefits for all.
3. Encourages Groups to network with each other locally, regionally and nationally to share learning.
4. Recognises the need to address the serious health inequalities that persist across the United Kingdom and to be proactive in listening to the voices of those who are seldom heard.
5. Contributes to national policy debates to ensure that patients have opportunities to make themselves heard.
6. Believes that the patient perspective should be crucial evidence in any commissioning decisions that are taken locally, regionally and nationally
